What is Microblading
Microblading is a form of a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup performed using, a manual (not a machine) disposable handheld tool, composed with very fine needles resembling the shape of a blade (we call it a microblade), to hand draw each individual hair and simultaneously implant the pigment into the skin. Unlike a traditional tattoo, which is permanent, the coloring from microblading may last for up to 3 years. This is because microblading uses different tools and a smaller amount of pigment. The initial procedure may take up to a couple of hours, and the eyebrows will appear darker immediately after the initial treatment. It is possible that the color will fade after a few weeks and a touch-up may be needed.
Benefits of Microblading
- Save time: You will have more time in the morning. For many of us, putting on our makeup can take a large part of our morning routine. With microblading, you can do away with the part where you have to fill in your thin eyebrows or do some last-minute tweezing to get them looking acceptable.
- You will save money. If you think about how much money you spend on brow pencils, eyebrow waxing, shaping, brushes, and tweezing, you’ll see that microblading is an investment that actually can save you money (and stress).
- No upkeep. This is probably one of the great benefits to microblading. Once you get your procedure done and healed, you can go on with life as normal – minus worrying about if your brows look perfect!
- Waterproof. Microblading won’t smudge or smear so you can enjoy all the swimming, saunas, jacuzzi’s, and working out that you like without having to touch up your brows.
- Natural-looking results. It’s almost impossible to tell the difference between a natural eyebrow and one that has been microbladed by one of our talented estheticians!
- Long-lasting results. This non-invasive treatment offers perfect brows for up to two years! Your microbladed eyebrows will retain their shape and size with only minor touchups.
- An easy solution to regain eyebrows. For those who have lost their eyebrows due to an illness, alopecia, or chemotherapy, this procedure is perfect to help them regain natural-looking brows and keep their dignity during a difficult time.
- Painless, effective, and safe. You can get perfectly shaped brows in this non-invasive, virtually painless procedure. Microblading is completely safe with no side effects.
- You can choose more than one look. At Spa Marija , our professional estheticians are trained to give you the look you want. You will have a consultation before your microblading process to ensure you have the shape you want. From a sculpted brow to an ombre brow to a full brow – we will help you choose the best shape and look for you.
- Your brow color will not fade or change color. You may have seen someone around with red or odd-colored eyebrows. At Spa Marija, our microblading pigments are organic and are specially formulated not to change color, but just to wear off naturally with time.
- New brows in under 2 hours. Microblading only takes about 1.5 – 2 hours for perfect brows! Since there’s no downtime, you can show off your immediate results the same day. You can even go straight from the salon to the office.
- You will have an eyebrow blueprint. You will have the perfect, natural blueprint on your brow area ready for another microblading treatment! But don’t worry, if you want something new the next time around, it’s easy to give you different results as well.

- it is important to know that the results of your permanent makeup will be based on the health and quality of your skin. Results will vary from person to person, and if you have a pre-existing skin condition or are on medications, you may still be eligible for a procedure but should adjust your expectations based on your situation. Powder eyebrows are suitable for any skin type and if you have contraindications to do microblading, in many cases you are still candidate for powder or nano eyebrows.
- Like any procedure, every person is unique and will react differently. If all checks out and your skin is in good physical condition, you can start by booking a free consultation with us.
- Under 18 years old – In state of Florida, you have to be 18 or 16 with parental consent.
- Skin Complications – If you have skin that is prone to complications with eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris, and dermatitis, chances are your skin is in a constant state of unrest and shedding and is not suitable for tattooing and therefore won’t hold the pigment well.
- Chronic Conditions – The same goes for conditions like chronic acne and rosacea. The inherent nature of this type of skin causes easy bleeding, which once again means your skin will not retain the color very well and the intended effect of microblading. Additionally, excessively oily skin can cause those tattooed hair strokes to blur together and give off an unwanted solid effect instead of a naturally feathered look.
- The inherent nature of these types of the skin causes easy bleeding once aggravated, which once again means your skin will not retain the color and intended effect of microblading. Unfortunately, it means you’re not a good candidate for microblading if you have those conditions.
- State of Skin – If your skin is sensitive, it is likely to be easily aggravated and bleed easily. A good way to know if your skin is sensitive is if turns pink very easily from a little scratch. Because of this, tattooed hair strokes will not lay properly on skin with deep wrinkles, which can make the overall look appear uneven.
- Skin Type – If you have Fitzpatrick Skin type 1, your skin is very likely to be hypersensitive and your skin will not be able to tolerate microblading well. The same applies if you just have generally very thin skin – it will bleed easily and not retain color.
- Sunburn – If you are hoping to get microblading done but have gotten a tan or worse, a sunburn, it’s best to wait until your skin has resumed its normal color and wait until your skin has healed before booking in for a procedure.
- Previous Permanent Makeup – People who have previously had permanent makeup may want to change or fix what they have previously had done. Clients may have to consider laser removal prior to a procedure or ask the artist if they can work with their existing permanent makeup to incorporate the old design and colors into the new one. Always disclose if you’ve had previous permanent makeup so our artists can treat you accordingly.
Pregnancy – Breastfeeding : Thanks to frustrating body changes during pregnancy, many women want to indulge in a little self-care. But microblading is not a safe treatment for pregnant women. Here’s why:
Numbing creams help ease pain during a microblading session. These topical anesthetics often contain epinephrine, which may be linked to fetal tachycardia and cardiac problems.
One of the reasons why microblading isn’t done during pregnancy is the way the hormone changes in the body affect the color of the pigments – the colors can turn weird. After you’ve had the baby, your body needs some time to get the hormones back in balance, and getting a brow tattoo before it does can leave you with a color you didn’t want.
