What is Velashape?
Velashape is a non- invasive body contouring treatment, targets and reduces cellulite and tightens skin. This treatment will aid you in achieving a toned, contoured and well shaped body in just a few sessions. Velashape typically does not have any downtime, so you will be looking and feeling your best in no time!
Velashape uses infrared light, bipolar radiofrequency, and mechanical massage to target specific areas. The heat breaks up the fatty tissue, which, combined with the massage can result in firm, smooth and even skin – reducing the visibility of any dimples.
Where can Velashape be done?
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Love handles
- Buttocks
- Hips
- Upper arms
- Bra lines
- Saddlebags
Benefits of VelaShape:
- Improved appearance of cellulite: VelaShape helps reduce the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks, thighs, and abdomen, which diet and exercise cannot improve.
- Reduced thigh circumference: The body contouring component of VelaShape leads to a reduction in thigh circumference, with clinical trials reporting a reduction of up to one entire dress size after completion of the treatment sessions.
- Smoother, firmer skin surface: VelaShape promotes collagen regeneration, which in turn helps smooth skin tone and texture in treated areas. This results in smoother, firmer skin.
Who is a candidate?
The best candidates for the VelaShape body sculpting procedure are clients that are already close to their ideal weight and have small areas of their body they want to contour. This treatment is not for weight loss, it is a toning and contouring treatment.
How does VelaShape Work?
VelaShape is not a weight loss treatment, rather it tightens and contours. It combines infrared light, radiofrequency energy and vacuum technologies to gently deep heat the fat cells, the surrounding connective tissues and underlying dermal collagen fibers. This stimulates the growth of new and better collagen and elastin which results in the localized reduction in skin laxity, body volume, and overall improvement in skin structure and texture.
When Can I Expect to See Results?
You can expect improvement in the treated areas gradually. For many patients, visible results will appear around week 2, and final results are evident at 10 weeks, but results will vary from patient to patient. Clinical studies report a circumferential reduction in the stomach, after a single treatment, of one dress size or about 2.5 cm. Maintenance treatments are recommended along with a healthy diet and exercise.
Pre Treatment Instructions:
- Avoid use of blood thinning drugs like aspirin, vitamin E, gingko biloba or fish oils for two days before and after your treatment.
- Avoid lotion or moisturizer applications in areas treated prior to appointment.
- Wear loose fitting clothes – the discomfort that you will experience during and after your appointment will be
similar to a mild sunburn. As such, you should avoid wearing tight fitting jeans. - VERY IMPORTANT: Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water for two or three days prior and post
treatment – the VelaShape procedure breaks down fat cells so that they may be metabolized by the body and excreted. When your body is fully hydrated, this metabolic process is enhanced. Also, radio frequency energy
requires a well hydrated body for effective conductivity. - If you are taking any prescription medications, or if you have recently undergone any surgical procedures, please inform your Body Sculpting Specialist prior to treatment.
- Please avoid tanning 1 week before and 1 week after treatment.
- We recommend exfoliating the area to be treated, the night before your treatment.
Post Treatment Instructions:
- Following your VelaShape session, you are free to resume regular activities. We generally recommend mild exercise post procedure to assist the lymphatic system in metabolizing the fat released. Any residual soreness you feel should be over within 48 to 72 hours.
- Following treatment, we suggest that you avoid large meals that might expand your stomach – instead eat five or six small meals per day for the two or three days following treatment.
- Avoid alcohol for 3 days post-treatment to allow for rapid clearing of fat content and toxins released during
- Bruising and broken blood vessels may appear and will go away in time, please let us know of any excess bruising or swelling after your Velashape treatment.
- Please avoid any excess heat after treatment and do so for the next 48 hours, i.e.: hot tub, sauna
- Taking blood thinners such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish oil or any NSAID can cause more severe bruising, redness and swelling.
