What are EXOSOMES?
Exosomes are small vesicles formed inside the cells that carry various growth factors, proteins and extracts of DNA-RNA all important elements for the health and constant rejuvenation of the cells. Circulating exosomes have the potential to be released in the bloodstream and be absorbed by other cells modifying the function of the recipient cells. Scientists were able to demonstrate that exosomes extracted from healthy cells could regenerate and repair the damage of unhealthy cells.
As we get older our exosomes carry less of the rejuvenating agents and the body starts showing signs of aging.
Researchers have showed that exosomes extracted from human skin cells had a thousand times more potent rejuvenation power than PRP due to their higher content of growth factors.
Unlocking the regenerative potential of EXOSOMES extracted from purified placenta stem cells:
Med Spa Marija is now offering an enhanced treatment using exosomes extracted from purified placenta stem cells.
It is proven that placental exosomes carry a much higher concentration of growth factors than adult stem cells. This increases the benefits of these young purified exosomes as anti aging agents.
Benefits of the treatment:
In the skin, the nutrients- biomimetic peptides and stem cell growth factors in particular- stimulate the natural repair and bio-rejuvenation processes with increase production of collagen and elastin. This helps maintain optimal moisture and keeps the skin radiant with improved nourishment. Most patients describe an impression of “freshness” and glow of their face after each treatment.
Results of the treatments on the skin:
- Visible rejuvenation of the skin texture
- Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
- Reduction of skin scars and texture irregularities
- Improvement of hyperpigmentation
- Firmer, brighter, and well-moisturized skin
- Radiant and glowing appearance of the face
Results of the treatments on the hair:
In the scalp, the nutrients help revive the follicles and assist in repairing tissue damage. The plumped follicles are more robust, able to rebuild more keratin. This in turn slows down hair loss and results in fuller, healthier-looking hair.
- Reduction of hair loss for all patients
- Fuller, thicker hair
- Shinier and healthier looking hair
- Hair re-growth after several weeks of treatment for most patients
Pre- And Post-Procedure Care:
Although there are no contraindications (people who absolutely can’t undergo the treatment) in exosome therapy, patients who use NSAIDs must be advised to stop their use at least 72 hours before the procedure to avoid the risk of lessening the effects of exosome treatment.
Patients are also advised to hydrate properly and have a full meal before the procedure.
Due to the currently observed minimal side effects in exosome therapy, patients who have undergone this treatment have little to no downtime and daily activities may be resumed immediately afterward, as long as strenuous activities are avoided within 24 to 72 hours after treatment.
Drinking alcohol, taking tobacco products, and eating foods rich in salt and sugar must also be avoided within 24 hours after treatment.
For proper recovery, patients must be advised to space their therapy between treatments.
Who can Benefit from Exosome Therapy
Exosome therapy has a range of uses. When applied to the skin, this treatment is highly effective for signs of aging, a dull and dehydrated complexion, calming sensitive skin, reducing lesions and scars (such as acne scars), creating a more even texture, and for shrinking enlarged pores.
What Can Be Expected After Exosome Therapy?
Most patients notice an immediate improvement after exosome therapy. These results typically continue to improve with repeated treatments and depending on the condition you are addressing, it may be recommended that you have between three and five sessions of exosome therapy treatments.
Exosome therapy treatment does not require downtime, apart from any recovery process associated with the treatment that it is paired with (such as an ablative laser treatment or collagen-stimulating treatments).
Exosome therapy vs. stem cell therapy: what is the difference?
The main difference between exosome therapy and stem cell therapy is that the former is cell-free. Exosomes are extracted from MSCs and sterilized, while stem cell therapy (SCT) relies on sterilized stem cells.
Another significant difference is that exosomes contain around three times the growth factors of adult stem cells. This higher potency offers a higher possibility of faster repair, regeneration, and revitalization of target cells.
Potential side effects include:
Like any biological material, exosomes will pose risks when used clinically. Since exosomes are generally derived from human cells and tissues, there is the risk of infection due to contamination.
This could be bacterial, viral, or fungal.
- Injection site reaction
- Ineffective treatment due to insufficient exosome content
- Contamination of cells through improperly harvested exosomes – this can result in growths or abnormal cell development in the target site or other areas of the body
- Bacterial infection resulting from improper extraction methods or incomplete sterilization.
